We assist people in re-entering the community by providing supportive environment in which they can begin to take charge of their lives.
According to the Will County Continuum of Care Gaps Analysis, there are 269 persons in homeless families with children, of whom 153 who have no shelter on a nightly basis.
If you are not a Will County resident, you have access to only 72 hours of emergency shelter. Additional shelter care, after the first 72 hours, would be available after a waiting list period of several weeks to a few months.
In the current shelters in Will County, 22% of the bed space is available for families, and 78% is available for singles. The current unsheltered population consists of 70% families and 30% singles. The Mission's new shelter will have 75% of the beds designated for families and 25% designated for singles.
The last and final phase of our rebuilding of MorningStar Mission, and our Homeless Women and Family Recovery Center, has now begun. We are excited about the number of homeless women and families that we can soon shelter, restore hope and provide an improved quality of life. |
