SUMMARY:Open to Public: Registration for Holiday Baskets & Gifts
DESCRIPTION:Every year MorningStar Mission has the privilege of providing free Thanksgiving food baskets and Christmas food baskets and gifts to our neighbors in need. To participate in this program\, you must register on October 8th and 9th. Here is a quick FAQ: \n1. When do I register?\nTuesday\, October 8th from 9 am to 5 pm\nWednesday\, October 9th from 9 am to 5 pm \n2. Where do I register?\nAt Morning Star Mission’s New Day Drop-In-Center.\nAddress: 364 E Washington Street\, Joliet. \nDURING REGISTRATION\, PLEASE PARK ON WASHINGTON STREET ONLY. \n3. What required documents do I need to bring to register?\nTo qualify\, you need to bring the documentation listed below. If you do not have any of the required items at the time of registration\, you will not be able to register. No exceptions can be made. Required documents include: \n1. Social security card or ITIN number for every member of the household\n2. Birth certificates for every member of the household (and proof of legal guardianship for non-biological children)\n3. Proof of address (electric bill\, gas bill\, or complete current lease; must be in head of household name)\n4. Proof of family income for every adult in the household. NOTE: no hand written pay stubs will be accepted. MEDICAID\, WIC and LINK cards are insufficient proof of income by itself.\n5. MUST HAVE social security/disability award statement\, and/or check stub from child support.\n6. The head of household (person registering) must show a photo ID\, birth certificate\, and social security card.\n \nOnly one household from each legal street address can register. If two different individuals who reside in the same household wish to register together (this includes all incomes) they may do so. However\, if they attempt to register separately\, both parties will not be allowed to register. THOSE MISSING ANY OF THE REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS LISTED ABOVE\, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER.THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS MADE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS LISTED ABOVE\, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO RETRIEVE THEM & RETURN WITH YOUR DOCUMENTS AT THE ABOVE TIMES & DATES\, NO EXCEPTIONS! \n4. What will be offered for Thanksgiving and Christmas?\nFood baskets will be offered for Thanksgiving.  And\, for Christmas\, food baskets and gifts. Gifts will be customized\, (but not guaranteed) based on the application given at the registration in October and based on donations MorningStar Mission has received. \n5. When and where will the distribution be for Thanksgiving and Christmas?\nThanksgiving Distribution will be held on November 19th from 9 am – 11:30 am. Distribution location to be determined. \nChristmas Distribution will be held on December 10th from 9 am – 11:30 am. Distribution location to be determined.The person who registered must come to pick up the items on November 16th and Dec. 10th with a photo I.D. \nNO ONE OTHER THAN THE REGISTERED HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD CAN PICK UP THOSE DAYS. \n6. How can I volunteer for registration or distribution?\nIf you would like to be a volunteer for these registration events\, please contact Lori Taylor at 815-722-5780 x222. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a culinary adventure as we hop on bright yellow school buses and cruise to different restaurants for each course – a delicious experience for foodies and fun-seekers. Guests will start at the Jacob Henry Mansion\, then travel in buses to Cemeno’s Pizza\, the Curator’s Cafe\, and Juliet’s. We’ll finish up back at the Jacob Henry Mansion for dessert\, drinks\, silent auction\, and raffle items! \nLocal celebrities will host each bus. Tickets are $75 each. Limited spaces are also available for our Elite VIP Connoisseur Cruiser with air conditioning for $125 (15 spaces available). DESCRIPTION:THE SCHOOL BUS IS READY TO BE PACKED! \nIt’s that time again to get our leaders of the future ready to JUMP ON THE BUS! The school bus lists are printed and these students need the help of you\, our devoted community donors\, to help prepare them for success! \nEach “Bus” has the child’s name\, their clothing info\, and their school supplies list. We are looking to donors to “adopt” a child for this event. Secure an outfit and supplies for their class and return them to MorningStar Mission by August 1st. \nIf you prefer\, you can instead donate $50 for a student’s supplies and we’ll do the shopping for you. When you donate online\, choose “Jump on the Bus for School Supplies” for your donation designation. \nThis year\, we have 307 registered children that need our help! – Lori Taylor\, Event Coordinator \nVolunteer alone\, as a group organization event\, or together with family and friends!
